Our vineyards

COLLE DEL VENTO VINEYARD

This vineyard was build in 1995, and is divided in two parts, totaling 4.5 hectares.
It is located in the Colle Del Vento area, next to the current farmstead.
The vines are Cabernet Sauvignon and Montepulciano, training system “Pergola Abruzzese”
The plant density is 1600 per hectare.
The soil is rich in clay and there is no artificial irrigation system.

In 2014 we planted another couple of hectares of Trebbiano Abruzzese and Montepulciano. This last one is a clone which was brought by my great grandpa from Valle Subequana (the cradle of Montepulciano grapes) after Filossera’s attack at the beginning of the 20th century. The buds have been passing on during the years in my family and the last vineyard, which had them before this one, was the one from 1972 which was crashed by snow in 2013 after 41 years of amazing harvests.

FONTE CONSERVA VINEYARD

Fonte Conserva vineyard extends for almost an hectare and was planted in 2018. It’s mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and less than 100 Syrah vines.
Located in Fonte della Conserva road (there is an ancient Rome spring, owned by Alanno municipality), its soil is rich in clay, with limestone and rocks.
The plantation technique is the “guyot”, with a plant density of 3300 per hectare.
There is no artificial irrigation system.

COLLE CINCIARO VINEYARD

With its 43 years of age, Colle Cinciaro is currently our oldest vineyard.
It is located in the Fonte Conserva area, close to the old farmstead and two oak bushes, and it extends for one and a half hectares.
The two vines we have there are Chardonnay and Trebbiano Abruzzese.
The plantation system is the Pergola Abruzzese, with a plant density of 1600 per hectare.
The soil is rich in clay and there is no artificial irrigation system.

In 2018 we planted another hectare of Montepulciano, where there was already a vineyard (always Pergola Abruzzese) since 1972 until 2013, when it crashed down because of snow in November.

PUZZELLA VINEYARD

The Puzzella vineyard was built in two separate stages, in 2005 (Montepulciano d’Abruzzo vines) and 2016 (Chardonnay and Pecorino vines), for a total of two and a half hectares.
Located in the Puzzella (which means “pond”) area, its soil is rich in limestone and water, thanks to the presence of a small lake nearby.
The plantation technique is the “guyot”, with a plant density of 3300 per hectare.
There is no artificial irrigation system.

FOSSATO VINEYARD

Planted in 2017, extends for more than half an hectare, with Italian and Rhénan Riesling. It’s just beside the old farmstead and the cliff towards Selva delle Mura. Clay soil with sand and chalk components. The plantation technique is the “guyot”, with a plant density of 3300 per hectare.
There is no artificial irrigation system.
